I listen to the mystic
and future fair is told
of ends and new beginnings
of the hot times and the cold

He talks in tongues forgotten
and rhymes in couplettes old
the mystic command the forces
the long free floating soul

I see the mystic clearly
his mist and glassy eye
the tilt of his pearly grin
the endless churn of his haunted cry

"I the mystic have spoken
as standing on a crystal shore
the lonely are the unbelievers
each one hollow to the core"

he speaks of alternate endings
of the futures one two three
of the powers in the sphere
and enfolded in human history

The mystic walks among us
afear runs through the swell
the mystic is the instrument
atuned to heaven and hell

All the times are clear
For the mystic to tell
of the past and future remembered
on the road that so many fell

Nostradamus in his basement
saw one such as he
as a bright and flaming visions
slicing eternity

Many call him the old one
for his body is gray and frail
But the mystic walks onwards
ner heart nor mind do fail

Mystic currents surround him
and carry him ever on
to eternal nights in paradise
or perhaps towards his fall

The very deep did rot: O Christ!
That ever this should be!
Yea, slimy things did crawl with legs
Upon the slimy sea.

Ahhhh Walter....I have missed your gift of poetic blending of imagery and cadence...
this is a very cool poem poet sir.
Love the theme and mystic, cryptic essence if this.
well done my friend.

There are two lasting bequests
that we can hope to instill in our children
one is roots ...
the other ... wings.
