*Better off as Friends (Life is More)*

Life is more than who we are.
It's who we meet along the way.
It's the messages we spread;
It's the soul that we can save.

You walk along, all by yourself.
The brightest smile upon your face.
Your Carefree and your Effervescence
made me the man i am today.
Like a nurse, you know where it hurts,
and you can make me bleed all night.
But in one fell swoop of laugh and hug,
you can make the world all right.
And my track record ain't exactly a gem...
All those times I ran your race...
I never came in First...so what?
I know I got Best Place.

Maybe Redemption does exist
All this failure's made me wise.
Second chances can't be missed.
My favorite friend; I don't know why.
Hard feelings and the bitterness...
i wonder where they went.
Be thankful for the little things...
It's the Old Beginning's end.

And when you dream your crazy dreams
Here I'll be, set to believe.
'Cause life is more than you and me
and the things they teach us on TV.

And when my sleepless night is through
Just smile and listen, just be true.
'Cause life is more than me and you
and those lousy books that say "Who's who".

You're my sun and you're my rain
You're my joy and you're my pain
I think we're they only ones left sane
and that's the feeling i can't explain...

so Life is more than who we are.
and Life is more than what we got.
I'm happy just the way we are.
and I'm glad we share the thought.

"Many great relationships start or end in a bar.
Some of the best do both in the course of an evening."

I just love your poetry...do ya know that?!!??!!

I have seen you replying here and I have been hoping for a poem post from you.
Ethan I have said this many times before of you and your poetry...
but it ALWAYS bears repeating..
BABY YOU ROCK!!
and I cannot read you and not say this...
you are SO damn far ahead in wisdom than you are in years...
and you are so cool...
and I KNOW your wisdom and soulful poetry comes from living and learning lifes lessons the hard way...
but you always rise above it show your true spirit in your words
I have no doubt youre gonna make it...
and youre gonna prove them non-believers who try to drag you down with them...all wrong.
very cool write Ethan... and as always...
your words dance across the page with your sense of rhythm in your rhyme.
hugs E

There are two lasting bequests
that we can hope to instill in our children
one is roots ...
the other ... wings.

First place is nice but when you come in "Best Place" you know there will always be someone waiting to congratulate you.
Give me a best friend any day over a fair-weather lover.
