A Huge Thank You to You All ... on My Passions' "Birth"day

One year has come and gone amidst these walls of Passion's blue,
And so begins a world of thanks to every one of you;
For those of you who know, and many others who do not,
I registered for many reasons … sheesh, there was a lot!

I had been so immersed in work my last ten years in life,
I barely had the time to breathe, I had no time to write;
I worked a sixteen hour day for seven days a week,
No time to just relax and play, no time to sit and think.

I found myself so very down, my joy in life was gone,
Until I found this wondrous place, this haven of dear Ron;
A year before, I'd searched the net to find some poetry,
I came across the main site, and submitted two or three.

And suddenly, it was not long, some e-mails did arrive,
From people all around the world, each one made me alive;
It felt like Christmas every time I read their words a'new,
Their feedback was encouraging, I wrote one more or two.

I popped in to the forums then, discovered a new world,
Sat quietly and read behind the scenes as they unfurled;
I read with admiration, all the words that I absorbed,
And mustered up my courage for some day to join the boards.

It took me quite a while, it did … a voyeur, you could say,
Until I just decided "this was it" one fateful day;
I scanned my thirty years of poems, and picked one out in fear,
"How would it be received?" I wondered … panic filled the air.

I hit "submit" with shaking hands, the sweat poured from my brow,
I ran from my computer, for I couldn't turn back now …
I sat on pins and needles, too afraid of what I'd find,
Perhaps you would not like my work ... my little verse and rhyme.

I hovered there for endless time, eternity it seemed,
Until I checked my mail, and saw with happiness and glee …
A warm and hearty welcome from the names I'd come to know,
The people whom I so admired … had welcomed me "hello".

I looked upon that post this morn, and smiled upon the names,
For many have become my friends and always will remain;
I read and I responded, I responded and I read,
I got to know so many peers through typing in these threads.

You're now familiar faces, many more I've come to know,
Your wit and charm, your love and skill, your talent and your warmth;
I can't express my happiness, and what you mean to me,
Each day I read your words upon these pages, gratefully.

This world that Ron created is a haven to me now,
A "thank you" seems inadequate for all he does somehow;
But thank you from the depths of me, each one of you in kind,
You keep me sane, you keep me warm, you satisfy my mind.

I've found much more than Christmas here … a gift without a cost …
For somewhere in these pages … I have found the "me" I lost.

Kit - You've given far greater gifts to Passions than we could ever hope to give to you... and I personally would like to thank YOU for that.  Also - This is only your "Forum" birthday - You were around long before that posting your wonderful work on the main site...

Happy Day, my friend...

Happy Poetry Birthday/Anniversary Kit...
you have given back ten fold what you so sweetly say you have been given....
your always enthusiastic and warm replies
are at the heart of Passions...
as is the work you now do here behind the scenes for us all.

Love ya Kit-gator

You have written the very words I was feeling....even when I feel I'm not at best..Passions is and always will be my home.  It is unmatched on the Internet and believe me, I've been all over the world online.  You just can't beat it for the kindest people in poetry.  Thank you for this, and I've been here a year also!

Congratulations Kit.  I am amazed that you were ever hesitant about sending your poetry.  Much as I was less than 2 months ago, and I now don't know how I could survive without Passions. It's the first thing I turn in the mornings.  Your poems are wonderful.  Joyce

I identify with this more than I care to tell you, even down to the shaking hand on the submit button.  And, I agree, the connections made through poetry here are better than any I have known.  One hour of "Pippery" takes away all the stress that the day tried to pile on.  Well I am new here Kit, but felt the same coming in as you, and probably will be writing a similar thing on my Pipp-day!  Lovely sentiments in your poetry, and I am sure glad you hit submit. Happy "Pippday"~!

Kit my sweet friend, this is utterly wonderful love a true piece of your wonder. I'd like to say thank you for being the ONE you are. You have graced me personally with beauty and I know lots of others too.

You know I get in here half as much as I wish  too, and on todays like today it's literally a wing and a prayer. I need my soul filling and of course I know who can fill it the quickest.

Take care and love and warm stuff as always

Oh I do so miss being here so very much, keep my place warm for me and know that I love you all my sisters who live here.

I'd sing Happy Birthday or Merry Anniversary to you, but trust me, you would hate me in the morning and my cat would vanish into the neighborhood for solace. Here's to many more celebrations.

Kit, I'm afraid anything I tried to say here would come out trite and I don't want to do that. Let me just say thank God for you and your friendship and hope that you can know the intensity of the sincerity in those words...my life is enriched because of you

~Nan:  Thank you so very much Nan ... but I'd like to thank "you" for being "you". You introduced me to Passions with such warmth and enthusiasm ... I'm ever appreciative for your encouragement always!  Hugs

~Janet Marie:   I'm so glad we connected way back when JM ... I can't tell you how many smiles you've give me in the last year gator-gal. Your poetry, your replies ... your name and words always mean so much to me ... love ya!

~Karilea:  It is truly a wonderful place Karilea ... and all the better for warm and caring souls like yourself. It would never be the same without your warm Sunshine!  Hugs!

~Kathleen:  Happy Anniversary/Birthday too Kathleen!  I searched initially too, but simply stopped when I found Passions ... 'tis the best poetry home indeed!  Thank you for these thoughts!

~Sharon:   You are one of the most kind and supportive people I know Sharon ... you give so much to others in this Poetry Land. I hope you truly know how special you are both to me and sooooo many others. Hugs to you!

~Mysteria:  Thanks so much Mysteria, it's nice to know I'm not the only shy one on the boards ... I never know how my writing will be received, and still have that moment of slight hesitation when I "submit". The difference now, is that I know everyone here to be fair, honest and kind, it's a wonderful place and I'm very glad you found it too!

Much appreciation to all,
/Kit
