In Silent Siege
~*Marge Tindal*~

In the defamation of friend's name
silence from you spoke the same
When others set the pyre afire
you quietly watched calumnious lick of flame

Siege of tongue, for shame, for shame
that they would dare traduce this name
Friend of yours, one was indeed
your silence served to serve no need

In the stir of embers cold
rake the friendship of your soul
Friendships burned in silent flame
bear the scars that long remain

Who will be there by your name
when next the slurring tongues take aim
in desecration of your name ?

your wisdom is showing, Marge...

Silence is not always golden. Sometimes the things we don't say are more destructive than the things we do..you point that out very well...

I will always stand up for you, Marge

JanetMarie~
Thanks for your comments.
One would never have to doubt your loyalty to friends.

Balladeer~
And likewise, you know for sure !

LOL !
There IS a life outside these walls.
I just took pause to reflect on what true loyalty to friendship should mean to us all.
Not a silent partner would I ever be.

Going out to pick wildflowers now !

Very much a thought to ponder.
Makes one want to take inventory of actions and friends
to see if any guilt lies there within.

Joyce~
That's the truth !
Thank you for your comments.

SunnyOne~
Thank you so much.
You'd think that true friends wouldn't have to be reminded, huh ?

Karilea~
No particular why or who~
Just thoughts from the heart of friendship.

AmuseMi~
Thanks for the read and reply.
When any friend is being torn asunder -
TRUE friends do not feast at the carnage in silence.

*Just my thoughts, friends.

someone once asked me if writing without the rhyme was harder, without a doubt it is much easier. I wish I could write in the fashion that you do, with the elegance that you do.
Lovely piece...

May your dreams always dance to the rhythm of a lover's heartbeat...

As great as your poem is, your response "When any friend is being torn asunder TRUE friends do not feast at the carnage in silence" is even more powerful... Such beliefs make you the friend you are... which is one to treasure. *S* Well done!

SuthernGal~
You are the bestest at finding those little gems
tucked in the replies.
Yes ... I've NEVER been that starved.

May it always be ....
I sense that there are many who do recognize
and respect the loyalty of TRUE friendships.

And the others don't really matter anyway.
Thank you, hon.
