Meet Me

Hold my gaze
I won’t be the first to look away
the scenarios open to us
are limitless
let’s have fun
we’ve been serious too long
in honor of love
we’ve paid so many words
in debt of the song
yet we’re still not able
to securely sing along

Take a new look
I’ve calculated the losses
they are nil in comparison
to what’s already on the table
just a walk together
may ease much of the tension
hearts in unison
pretend there is nothing to fear
I’ll walk if you will meet me
halfway there

Halfway...then one step beyond...that to me is the true definition of love...that one extra step....very well said

Oh I loved this one, as compromise and taking steps to rectify distance between two people is the only glue there is in cementing good relationships! Great poem.

taking the first step is sometimes the hardest.  Meeting halfway, helps the healing process.  Beautiful poem.

"yet we’re still not able
to securely sing along"

This jumps lept out at me and is so very true. We never quite trust ourselves and usually wind up shooting our selves in the foot. I wonder where in the history of humankind did we become so unsure of our own direction? Good writing.

And if you both go just a littl more than halfway.  Good poem.  Joyce
