~*~ Passing The Time ~*~

It seems like only a moment ago
I stood upon the threshold of life.
Such anticipation in my heart
As I spread my wings without fear,
Ready, and oh so willing to take flight.
And now the metronome swings,
As my life slips by me so quickly.
Running barefoot in the sand of time,
My footprints evident to no one but me.
I fear somehow that I have not managed
To inscribe the words,
~*I was here*~
Yet, I did take time to smell the flowers.
I extended my hand to those in need.
I looked for and saw the inner beauty,
In almost every one I met.
So, I suppose even though,
Twilight is fast approaching, and,
My final sunset is well at hand,
I can say, with all honesty,
~*I loved*~

I understand this well...my question, at any time...is anything we can offer greater than love?  This went deeper into me than I can tell you.

Certainly, to love is important and perhaps that is what is remembered the most. What is most important to me is not that a paarticular person loved, but that I loved them: they were capable of invoking love from others, and thus bringing to me an important part of living. Dwelling in my memory as an important part of me. Thus using that can not be the measure of my being here, but of theirs.

"I am not now that which I have been."

inot2B - Your "Texas heart" is showing again, and I do thank you and treasure that heart!

JLR - The answer: nothing is greater! Thanks for enjoying my poem.

Julian - I think I got that lol!  I agree if I did, and I never get accepting in return, and love especially!  That is something we are gifted with, and I always feel a gift of that magnitude is to be shared.  Thanks dudette!

Joyce - I wish I was my age!  Sometimes I feel quite old and others there is no holding me down!  No matter what state I am in - I love to love!

Latin Passion - With a name like yours I know you understand fully, and yes, it was about giving of yourself unconditionally and expecting nothing in return, for if you do, you never really gave at all.

bslicker - All of you are carved in my heart too!  We travel many paths in life, and I am so glad I went left instead of rigth this time!  p.s. loved your poem about the children, pen on friend!

Your words are well inscribed here... and embraced on a number of hearts. *S* This is beautiful! (And now, if only everyone could take stock and answer honestly that they've loved. *S*)
