Geysers in October From blueberry sourdough pancakes down at the Hole, to mirroring images of grand peaks, on a rare night of blue moon aspens illuminated elk darting across our path. I felt a pull to stay. We were captivated by Echinus, rising in her slow, shy dance, then gurgling ever higher, a steamboat phase of eruption, at her peak shooting fountains eighty feet into the air, splashing her citric spray over our ecstatic faces. Then, atop a mountain, with golden trees below like buttercups on a lawn, you told me of your fear of heights. The blue moon hooked me but the entire write kept me mesmerized...the height made me close my eyes...incredibly visual! |

I'm forced to assume - You were/are at Yellowstone N.P. - the one park, (oldest NP too?) I've yet to get to that is most high on my list - I couldn't find Echinus in my encyclopaedia - and assum further it is a worthy geyser to see = I'll simply tell you - I could not be more jealous and as always - your poem touched me |

Well, then, you must go, Bill. Your muse will go crazy there. I highly recommend the fall, when the tourists have gone. The weather is usually fabulous (it was in the 70's when I was there), the fall foiliage is at its peak and the wildlife come down off the mountains for food. Walking while surrounded by geyers, steam and mud pots is like being served up proof of God. The Grand Tetons, simply amazing. And, thank you! Cor |
