Sketching the Lost Poet

With each word painfully drawn
a portrait takes shape
of a darkened sun,
shades
of melancholy.

Beneath wet coats of blackened gray,
layers of past brilliance lie,
lustrous expressions
in opulent oils,
impressions of a poet's love;
now inlaid with anguish,
lost in artistry’s reverie.

The image of peeling layers - as we might see (if we had more than a minute fraction of your imagination) left me breathless - - Needless to say: Corinne at her finest.

You deserve a good coating of opulent oils.
