The Rosin Bag

Poised upon a massive blister,
Cooking but disdaining heat,
Shaking off the signs, the closer
Contemplates his final pitch.

Stepping slowly off the rubber,
Swiping at a drop of sweat
Stealing for his eye, the closer
Jams his shirt beneath his belt.

Turning from the waiting batter,
Bending from surrounding stands
Screaming for a run, the closer
Searches for the little bag.
