I hear the echoes of yesterday
where once upon a time
as children our laughter filled the air.
We frolicked in golden rays of sunshine
as the scent of lilac clung
to gentle breezes blowing by.

There were days of youth
sheltered by a loving father
who stood close enough
to guide us with care and wisdom,
all the while giving us room to grow
into adulthood.

These were the days
filled with friends and fun,
before learning the inevitable fact
that life can not only give,
but can take as well.

There were days of sadness
spent from not knowing the mother
that seemed to still somehow
pass her love into our hearts,
as there were times
of fears and loneliness
from love gone wrong
to withstanding life's trials.

Tears of joy flowed the day
my child was born,
the first time those little blue eyes
looked into mine and I knew that I was
indeed needed.

Tears of sadness flowed
the day we lost the man
who had meant
so very much to us
all of our lives.

There are days with you
that fill my life with love,
and my heart with a warmth
that comes from the light
that burns deep in my soul
for you.

There are memories,
to numerous to count...
to important to be forgotten...

Within each and every memory...
I hear the echoes
of yesterday.

And lovely echoes they are.

Live for love. Without love, you don't live.

What a wonderful Father you had...I feel the love you shared, and the memories.  And is it not the most special feeling in the world to look into your child's eyes for the first time?  Thank you for sharing a piece of you and your life, in poetry.  I thorougly enjoyed your story, and of course your poetry is always lst class.

SG, those of us who loved him and knew him will always cherish him and all he did as he raised us from such small children.  and I know that you will never forget that day, or the day April was born either.  Hugs to you sweetie.  Luv, me.

Mysteria, it was something I had contemplated on doing for quite some time.  I just wasn't sure how to get it into rhyme, and said to myself, the heck with rhyme.
He truly was an amazing man, he gave so much to us three girls, raising us on his own. That is why he truly is "our greatest hero"
I wrote that the night of his passing, and it hangs in each of us girls homes now.  Thank you, and God Bless.

coco, dear heart, I didn't mean to make anyone cry, just to share a few memories.
