The Poet Ship

He sailed the seas of blues and greens
Lost dreamer in a ship of dreams
A poet by the name of Ron
And every star he wished upon
Be came a verse of fading gleams

For isolation wore away
Like systematic slow decay
Poetic notions of delight
Like vampire mysteries fled the night
From loneheart of the day

Until he met one day in port
A blue eyed wanderer of sorts
A rambling , roving balladeer
Who brought the skipper words of cheer
In verse and rhyme in each retort

And in the pub a temptress eye
That satiated evening sky
With poetry in stars she scrolled
Cast moondust on the gentle soul
And Nan became his lorelei

They drank a bit of spiked moonshine
A whiskey brewed of poet’s brine
And as they read their poems aloud
A cheer rose up from forum’s crowd
A poetess with name deVine

The skipper then engaged the three
To sail the blue of rolling sea
As sunshine lit the morning skies
The rainbows danced in dreamers’ eyes
With amber hues of butterflies

A white dove lit upon the helm
A hoot owl flew from inlet elm
Then spoken from the skipper’s lip
We’ll call this vessel Passion’s ship
A poet dreamer’s writing realm

At every port along the trip
More poets boarded Passion’s ship
The Isis was their guiding light
Dark angels kept them safe at night
This poets’ floating fellowship

Through heavy mist of harbor fog
A kitty, alicat and Dogg
Once slipped aboard the steady craft
A Gunslinger stood at the aft
The eagle scorpions to flog

And there were animals afloat
The beautiful aesthetic boat
Netswan, a hawk, an eagle, moose
A squirrel, a bull, a koon ran loose
Like characters from Dr. Suess

A lone wolf howled, one eagle swooped
A jackal kicked the lazy sloop
Alwye, Blondie, and Beverly
In fear of being dumped at sea
But we were just a bit bbooged

An echo came from a lagoon
A music maker making tunes
Then Mona Lisa did a dance
A sundance full of sweet romance
And cheered up the Professor Gloom

A mystic man at slightest hint
Turned pepper into peppermint
So easy spun this ship of fools
Into the great cyclonic pools
Of poets’ words that they imprint

But lucky was this mystic man
With spitfire wit and sleight of hand
He scorched a dragon, with no fight
We donned him the poetic knight
The one who understands

Passing shadows would forewarn
The suthern winds of coming storm
Skyfyre in tempestuous knight
Lit up the skies with Thor’s delight
And rainy days became the norm

But more and more approached the ship
At every port to join the trip
Martie, Marsha, lovely Marge
Pulled me on the floating barge
And spoke to me with quipping lip

Then came Jamie, Joyce and James
Jeffrey, J’s with other names
Jeremiah, jwesley
Jesse, Jon, Janet Marie
Jasmine and Jim Hastily came

jbouder, just blue, Julie ann
Gene and Gemini hand in hand
Moonchild cuddles her small pooh bear
And raggedy Ann with bright red hair
Abigail, aimster, allecram

Then sauntering in, a lady in red
A crazy chick that turned some heads
It opened a Pandora’s box
This Saxoness with golden locks
And naked thoughts pierced every head

Just in tyme the passion eased
The guardian angel called Denise
Reminded us our destiny
A trip of sweet serenity
On waves of blue in poet’s peace

But it was a romantic cruise
The deck with flowers was profuse
An Irish rose, a tulip bloom
Beneath the Catalina moon
And rosebud petals yet to bloom

Parker, Patrick, Paula, Paul
Meadowmuse, Seymour, and Nichole
Christopher, X Angel, Sven
Always with a poet pen
And Rosemary, a beauteous soul

Severn, lovebug, Rex and Kit
Lonewolf, Kevin , quite a hit
Romantic heart is William’s game
And Wilfred often plays the same
Poeminister, Poertree, genius wit

Cocobaci’s pleasant whims
Danny, David, Tara Sims
Tracie, Vixen, Rod and Ted
Helmut, insect, local reb
Brad and peter, packrat, Tim

Beverly, Bonnie, Birdman, Bill
And many more the ship did fill
All stargazers of endless dream
Charisma written on the screen
A love and passion rhyming pill

Beautiful maidens like Doreen
Astraea, Beki and Corinne
Toerag goes in for the kill
With words that give the girls a thrill
While Long John’s turning emerald green

Sudhir, Celeste and Eloise
Ethome, VAS, in warm sea breeze
Devina, Ellie, ashen light
Andrew, vandana, Arabian Knight
Wolfgang, Lorraine and ESP

Marina, Munda, Marilyn
Mark and Andrew came on in
Elizabeth, Lizzie, Isabella
Writing prose of gals and fellas
Novels for H Arlequin

The ship is full and yet they come
A poet’s heart the total sum
So still there’s space on vessels rim
To fill the forums to the brim
With Mike and Michael, Sunnyone

Jumping off an island vine
Wayoutwalt joined just in tyme
And wayout Lucie, wayout Craig
Went way way out to pull in Dave
Way off the coast of Caroline

Songbirds, all, Suetang and Juan
Snowpants, Walker, singing songs
Interloper, desperado
Seeking poet’s El Dorado
And one slick lady sings along

Steady is the schooner’s keel
Sea angels hold the poets wheel
Along the starboard dolphins three
Accompany the ship at sea
The blue of poetry and me

Ron still mans the poet ship
He now has simply christened PIP
In midnight dew, in due respect
A haunted poet walks the deck
The word Lenore upon his lip

Going with the flow and ebb
These poets on the blue-green Webb
With moondust falling on their beds
And naked thoughts within their heads
They weave enticing silver threads

Sail on, Oh Ship of PIP!, Sail on!
And thank the poet skipper Ron

Gentle Spirit, THank you, I wanted to include all names but it was getting too long. Glad you are aboard

Kit,Thanks, sis. I'm leaving for a few weeks and wanted to post this before I leave. It's been a wonderful cruise, hasn't it?

Sven, Thanks for your enthusiasm, but some of my favorite writers are not mentioned (boo hoo). I'll have to write another poem. Thanks for your comments

You say you had to go away a bit, I felt it was to heal and feel...

and yet you come back and in a slip, give us something so...surreal....

Lady, you have outdone yourself, yet again...

I am sure this marvel is gracing many libraries, and I am sure Master Ron got his own personal autographed ORIGINAL?

Elizabeth
I am only new to Passions and to have my name mentioned in this is truly an honour for me.  From the first day I started submitting my poetry I felt so much warmth and acceptance from the other wonderful writers, it is like a second home for me.  Poetry writing has opened up a whole new world for me and made me a better person.  I thank you for such an outstanding piece of poetry which I'm sure we can all learn from.
Take care......Sue
