Mother Nature’s Ballad (A Sonnet)
By: Noah Eaton
4/22/01

Mother Nature wakes Her halcyon cherubs
Holding them gently in Her organic bosom
Feeding them the nectar of the iris with love
Feeding them the secrets of life, giving them all a hug
She sends them out to play, among Her gorgeous art
Her cherubs dancing and holding hands, laughing
The warmth of love summoning the sun from afar
Their kingly Father, to breathe life into everything
Knightly lemon trees bow before him, stars of the daylight
Eucalyptus cousins holding the medicines to every flu
Grandmother swallowtail owning the skies, ever so wise
Kaleidoscope children following, playing the blooming flute
Mother Nature has awakened from a long sleep this spring
Dancing in the sunshine, painting her botanic dreams
