An icy chill engulfs my body
As I leave through my back door
I begin to wonder with a little sadness
Is the sun going to shine anymore?

As we head towards Winter
There are many changes before my eyes
As my garden begins to take on
A completely different disguise

The bright flowers of Summer
Are now few and far between
The birds are taking shelter
Not so often are they seen

The trees are becoming bare
As their leaves begin to fall
Very soon my beautiful birch trees
Will have no covering at all

The soil is becoming much colder
But below the surface there lays a surprise
In a few months time a treasure
Will be unearthed before my eyes

So many flower bulbs
Now lie dormant in the earth
I must wait so patientely
Until I view the first signs of their birth

Crocuses, daffodils and jonquils
Will begin this spectacular display
Then ranuculi and anemones
Will burst forth from where they lay

A kaleidescope of color
Will once again spread across my yard
As my cupid statue, with his trusty bow & arrow
Will be so proudly standing guard

When I first started reading, it took a minute to realize that you lived in the 'down-under' corner of the world!!  I enjoyed the beautiful verses, and it reminded me that I have my own kaleidescope of color coming up soon in my little garden.
Wonderful poem, my friend!!!

Live...Love...Be grateful for both!!

I'm glad you enjoyed this one and, yes, my favourite cupid statue got a mention here. He is the keeper of my garden......Sue.

Yes, we are into Autumn now and I envy you as you enter Spring, so I will just have to be patient.  Take care.....Sue

This is lovely and applies right now to our own springtime.  It seems strange to think I have instant contact with whe who lives in a world upside down from mine or mine is upside down from yours.  Joyce

I agree, it is so hard to imagine that our seasons are opposite right now.  I am very envious that your gardens are bursting forth with new grown as mine is preparing for Winter.....Sue
