I swallow pain
and I forgive you
instantly
Knowing your need to release
frustrated anger
will be just as you
Strong and fierce
And I, as the reason
for your storm,
must be destroyed
in an emotional lashing
only you
with mere words
could give

And I stand knowing
your tears of remorse will be genuine
Your sorrow true and
heartfelt

It's only afterwards
when memories sting will break through
my self defensive shock
that I will cuddle up alone
and give quietly my tears reaction
and wonder voicelessly
how one could vow to love
the one they need to destroy
so completely

Please don't tell me you're with him still?
His sorrow is not genuiine or he would not do this over and over.  Joyce

Joyce.......thank you for caring!  Am in the process of breaking free.  Just touching on and trying to sort through all the many emotions that have come with it.  Perhaps to understand that easy confusion when we are unsure what feels like abuse is really abuse, if that makes any sense.

I know of this too well
For one so dear to me endured this
Don't look back, don't hesitate
so much for unasked advice

Just love yourself enough to leave

Please

I understand your poem and I understand what you mean by trying to figure out if what feels like abuse is abuse.  I'm glad you are breaking away...but I, too, will give some unsolicated advice.  Leaving is easier than staying gone.  Stay gone!  Please take care of yourself.

If it feels like you ate a slug, it probably did. Don't look back. Please....

Oh my. This is a powerful release of emotion.
The image of cuddling up to yourself brought tears to my eyes. Outstanding work here.

Thank you so much everyone.  Your heartfelt responses to this poem, well, means alot to me.  And the advice, even if unasked for, is much appriciated.   JLR, you are right, very right.   Thank you so much.

No words of advice here, cuz I'm the last one that should give them, but good write here...great expression of the experience of such an awful situation...

to be with you...
I've tried to hide my passion,
but it's just no use...
piece by piece I lose it
when you walk in the room...
