This was written during sermon today, still needs work to say what I'm trying to say, I think. What do you think? It's kind of a study in 'self-righteousness' which of course is an erroneous state of mind.
Above it All, Said Tongue to Cheek
Virginia Salter

Dancing free with lofty heart
rejoicing in my state
not one to murder, or profane
the Word of God, nor hate.

A minuet, a waltz, a reel
would flit my feet quite well.
So good am I, following His will,
do dance with me a spell.

Now here you are a-speaking
of seven deadly sins
among them you would point out
the cruelest sins of men

Oh, no, you don’t, no fingers point at me
This is not greed, frugality’s my bent
Two for the price of one
that’s where my money went.

Oh, yes, I must admit
I’ve twice as much as need
but I’ll just save it for the future
a savings can’t be greed.

Not avarice, not greediness,
oh, no, that’s not for me
just planning for the future
of I, myself and me.

I may need a bigger house
to store the bargains in
But stewardship’s my aim, oh, would be Judge,
so please don’t call it sin.

Ok, neither judgement nor condemnation.

Live for love. Without love, you don't live.

Wow! This reads so very well with a lilting voice. The reader is lulled, turns away, then realized the feeling of a sting. Brilliant.
