Proud Tulips
Virginia Salter

The egos of my tulips
must really be quite grand
for there they stand
with heads so huge
and stems that lean aslant

It seems it would be good
if their leaves could be some taller
that they might hold their heads up
and maybe give a holler

If your tulips start to give a holler then I wouldn't want to be around. I love tulips but not when they holler like two lips!   I enjoyed the read Virginia!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie
