~*~ Underneath An Ebony Moon ~*~

She dances to a silent song,
A too familiar tune.
Alone, she dances in sadness,
Underneath an ebony moon.

A singular, lonely shadow,
Dancing to a mournful song,
Wondering if this time,
Her pain will last as long.

A one sided coin,
Half of a full moon,
The same old music,
Playing out of tune.

She dances at dusk,
Not a shadow in sight,
Alone on the path of pain,
She’s given up the fight.

Sadness, and despair,
Is the mask on her face.
In loneliness, and heartache;
There is no saving grace.

People turn their backs,
And make it crystal clear,
She has nothing to say,
That they wish to hear.

Fractured, and shattered,
Empty heart, tears of ice.
Her emotions feel played with,
Like a roll of the dice.

She’s now built a wall, and,
Tucked herself safely inside.
And vowed never again in anyone,
Will she ever confide.

She dances to a silent song,
A too familiar tune.
Alone, she dances in sadness,
Underneath an ebony moon.

Very sad but true for many I'm afraid. Some never come out from behind the wall, that too is so sad. You portrayed the emotions very well here! It's always good to read the poetry of a fellow Canuck!     have a nice day!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie
