“THE ONE I MET”
by
Bill Charles
~~~~
I was sitting there talking with her,
she said her name,
was ‘Sorrow’…
And she spoke to me very softly,
saying I would also know her,
tomorrow…
It seems she sought me out, and came after me
with sweetness,
like a black widow…
Now that’s someone that does in her mate, no fooling,
she’ll pierce your heart,
with an arrow…
So beware, she lurks in corners, who knows where,
sneaking around,
and behind every door…
Maybe under your bed, just waiting,
take a look and you might see her,
on the floor…
I ask you to be careful, or be welcomed to this club,
but be aware, she’s very sneaky,
even yet…
She said ‘Sorrow’ was her name, I know her well,
she’s the one, the devious one,
‘The One I Met’…
Tendrils of time glean about thee, true,
     And echo in gentle sighs
The embers of hope...
     of evanescence.
It will be a mystical thing
    ~ This moment~
When one thought is "sorrow"
     And the next a hollow.
But, alas, not as you perceive.
     For time wounds all heals-
'Tis true-
     Shhh-only if you let it.
Sometimes others just seem to have a different sense of propriety than we do... and they always will... Sorrow needn't follow you to tomorrow, my friend... Be happy...
Amuse_mi - thank you for the kindness and understanding of your words. I added some to what you wrote, hope you don't mind.......
Tendrils of time glean about thee, true,
     And echo in gentle sighs
The embers of hope...
     of evanescence.
It will be a mystical thing
    ~ This moment~
When one thought is "sorrow"
     And the next a hollow.
But, alas, not as you perceive.
     For time wounds all heals-
'Tis true-
     Shhh-only if you let it.
"Time echos thoughts, here and there,
     so many gentle sighs, deep within,
And a faint light of hope,
     comes to surface...
The magic of one moment in time,
     when 'Sorrow' no longer reigns,
But hollow, I do not want,
     tis care, that is a craving...
Yes, the wounds heal, time never flees,
     and it is true,
For deep within it enters, and
     I cherish with a quiet smile,
as it does with comfort,
     knowing, as I let it,
         because of you..........
BC
Nan - you are so very gracious, and kind with your words. Thank you Nan.....
Bill
Don't let sorrow and hate fill your mind for life in itself is too short.  I can feel the pain in your writings.  Be happy!
Yes, sorrow is a devious one, seek the truth and the glow of it.
Dear Bill,  Yes she comes to each of us in turn.  We must be prepared to wrestle with her.   I always enjoy your poetry.Joyce
Tessa - yes, painful indeed, and thank you for your reply.
nakdthoughts - no, not this time.
Taffetta - thanks for reading this and for your words of kindness.
VAS - I will do what you have said, 'seek the truth and the glow of it'
ethome - she does lurk for many, and as a member of the club, you know who and what she is.
RMW - to all that was said, I say thank you,.
Ariana - I treasure your words to me, always have. Write and post your writings for all to see, for what I have read is so very beautiful.
Joyce - I have wrestled with her, but am prepared for her not to enter again. Thank you for your words, and am glad that some of what I write can enter into your heart.
