Hands Across Time
~*Marge Tindal*~

Into this world gently lifted
these times may have been the best
Placed with tender loving care
first suckle at mother's breast

Stroked and cuddled in blessed wonder
cradled in lullaby's song
Handed over to Daddy's hands
also gentle, yet strong

Discovery through these hands of teaching
Grandmother's clasped in prayer
Knelt in tandem kinship
with gentle stroke of hair

Grandpa's hands of leather
different from the rest
Tanned and supple with outdoor delights
I think I liked these best

Childish friendships offered hands
held in Ring-Around-Rosey
Shyest slip of hand-in-hand
with first-love was so cozy

Treasured memories of hands
that touched me across time
Lay now in lifelines of the heart
forever etched in mine

Take these hands I offer you
they have held a world of treasure
Reach out and touch another's heart
with your hands of love in full measure

Palm to palm, take time to place them
in gentle thanks for all you've known
When you grasp hands in gentle friendship
you'll never be alone

My friends~
At 4:38 a.m. this day -
I helped deliver a friend's baby.
Mother and daughter are doing fine.

As the ambulance attendants (who finally arrived)
loaded them for transporting, Laura said,
"I'll never forget your helping hands."
Thusly, after a well-deserved sleep, this one came to me.
Thank you for enjoying the hands of friendship.

Might I say I loved the poem, but also love how you extend your hands in friendship with no attachments Marge.  Talk about practicing what you preach - good for you, as you are one of the few that do it!  (hugs)

Hey...way down here (yup it's me!), trust you to lend a helping hand!  How special was that?  Just think she may call her Marge, and then we would have two of you and that would be even more special!  Nicely done after the night you had - what a memory this is going to be, for you, the Mother, and the wee one!
