Why the Red Dress came Off

it fit the time
the place
the craze
a red velvet dress
around her
graced
the form
the fit
was so complete
the length of it
reached to
her feet

but the stares
and whispers, sure
did not for a
moment occur
to her ears, as
attributes should,
and she stood
glued,
as if hard wood
had suddenly
become her
limbs,
no,
red was not
her color

why had she
listened
what good could
become
of a person
whose heart
was white as
the sun,
of a person
whose soul
was not dark
of despair
and this red
dress,
how was it this
she had
come to wear?

in fear
of jeers
and laughter
unkind
she fled
in dread,
removed
the red

now in white
she is adorned
her countenance
now
never forlorn
she had tried
to be
someone
she was not
and that was a
lesson
she has never
forgot
for one wears
their soul,
it’s true
and when a
light appears
unto you
know that lack
of color
is all right,
especially if
that lack appears
all white.

write with grace, all others lose face;
"Jo was very tall, thin, ... and reminded one of a colt..." LMA

You gotta be you ... only you.

Well done. Very well done.

Live for love. Without love, you don't live.

The color of the spirit is the only color that matters in the end...

Very nicely said, Lady....

There's a commercial: "sometimes you feel like a nut, some times you don't..."

I've had a fascination with auras for years now -

"White" - is you -white shall always be you

This is not to say -
you're not entitled to some red moments

Seriously - great poem
