Turning the Page [sequel to “Touching”]

what
was left unsaid
there before,

in that, the previous write,

                             such as

all the feelings
that went through the door

with me in search
of finding me
in you
a clue

a key

you’ve always been part
of me

from the very first
you sinewed in

can it get
much closer than that?

you, and your favored
cats

do all poets have cats?
if not
they should

so found in you I am again
I turned the page, and
thought of when

with less wrinkles in
my skin
you first made me smile

with my finger
I turn the first
page to find again
the sketchy art
introducing verse
and then
with my finger
I trace along

remembering….

three decades gone and you were
already gray then,
so what does age make
you now? oh, I know…

a poet that
will forever live
young

in my forever
fresh
heart

where cat’s paws touch
with leonine skill

of the majestic beasts that they really be.

Thank you Sir,
for
your intros
to a love of
life
through lift of word

did not go

unheard.

Karilea,

This, in my opinion, is some of the best work of yours I've read.  I won't say "wow" but I will say "most excellent."  Hey, I'm impressed.

SEA, a few cats owned me, too, I currently have a dog...when the time is right, I shall go back to being owned and cared for by a cat...I'm so glad you liked this, thanks!

Interloper...never had the opportunity to meet this particular poet, McKuen, but would probably give my right, no, make that my left arm, to do so....

'Deer, I would imagine you've heard that phrase yourself a time or two...Thank you Sir...

Mysteria....I liked those lines, too...very much so....thank you!

Sven, here's your cream!...LOL....thank you...

Michael, apparently it was time for me to revisit he who snowballed this desire...and your words humble me....thank you!
