Awake, awake my sleepy head,
You'll miss it all if you lie abed.
A new neighbor is moving in
To the place that's too long empty been.
I waved at her, she dared not speak
Or lose the straw clutched in her beak.

Come we will bring some yarn and twine
As a welcoming gift for her to find.
The Ides of March have come and gone.
The days of spring are marching on.
Our winter guests are leaving too,
You must help me bid them fond adieu.

I saw them far up in the sky,
A flock of swans go flying by.
We earthbound creatures can only stare,
And wish them safe to their great somewhere.
We know not how they find their way,
But just as sure they'll be back some day.

Beneath our feet, above our heads,
Nature is stirring in dens and beds.
New life abounds and is waiting there,
For we who see, for we who care.
Up and about, let's romp in the dew.
A wondrous morn is awaiting you.

Yes, and your poem reminded me of a spring morning with a hot cup of coffee and seeds to plant!  THank you!

It's supposed to snow here tomorrow...I'll read your poem again and try to stay warm.  Thanks!

I visited my Dad this weekend and he has two new neighbors, courtesy of spring... a stray cat had two kittens at the barn... and a wren is nesting on his back porch. (Now if only his neighbors won't meet. *G*) This is lovely, Joyce!

What at treat! I have neighbours too, and they return every year.  They sit outside the window where my computer is, so I have fun watching!  This was so beautifully homespun and warming, thanks Joyce.
