The thing I once called freedom-
Is nothing left to lose.
I made the worst of choices,
Each time I had to choose.

The zeal of youth I squandered,
And it made me what I am.
Although the fault may be my own,
I’m still a lonely man.

There was a time when solitude,
Was quite my cup of tea.
A sunset in the desert-
Was just the dish for me.

Living in a bunkhouse,
Left me lots of time to dream.
Beer joints on a Payday night...
A man could blow off steam.

Now all of that is faded dreams-
Best face that while I can...
Although I made my bed myself-
I’m still a lonely man.

Still living from a suitcase-
I’m always on the go...
Two hundred days a year from home-
Is pretty rough, you know?

I’m really not complaining-
I just hope you understand-
Whatever brought this all about-
I’m still a lonely man.

I like this very much, GS... The first two verses could be my own story... but regardless of who's to blame, loneliness is a miserable companion. *S* Well done!

You dwell amidst your solitude
No stentor 'bout your ears.
Yet peace and quiet does wear thin
When spanning many years...

Get out and meet some kindly folk
And socialize some more.
One thing I've learned that is for sure
They won't knock on your door.

... Nice write, GS...

Waft every crest upon your destined sea
Embrace the Wave of Serendipity
Lest its elusive arcane ecstasy
Refurl with sail for all eternity

Freedom comes from within and loneliness comes from no expression. Welcome to the pool of emotions.  Keep writing, you've made one person smile.

I can always be distracted by love, but eventually I get horney for my creativity.
