The Afterglow Love is spent. Some call this the afterglow. In many ways I think of this as the best part. Quietly whispering, cuddling, playing with her hair, giggling in the darkness. Deep sighs with salt and copper scent still fresh on the air. Warmth, heavy breaths, racing hearts now slowing, the closeness. With her face on my chest, I hold her close as we drift off to sleep. The nicest part about this? Learning that you giggle.... a heart-warming read. |

Can there be a best part when there isn't a worst... or even a so-so? (impish grin) Seriously... I like this a lot! *S* |

Michael--It is wonderful, just like you say, a sweet and tender part of the whole. |

Helen, It certainly is the part where probably the most tenderness is often shown. Thanks. Karilea, Goodness...now you know that I giggle. My reputation as a "serious poet" is ruined for sure. Thank you. suthern, You certainly have a good point, don't you? By the way, I loved the impish grin. Thanks Mysteria, I try, but am not always successful. I'm glad you liked this. Thanks. dragonpoe, Thank you for reading and liking this one. S. Arthur Grey, Thanks for the "well done" and for coming by. Martie, Yes, to leave this part out of the whole would take away the tenderness, the closeness. Thanks. Elizabeth Anne, I appreciate your visiting and enjoying this. By the way, why is it I'm the only writer here that you post on? Just curious. Thanks. Lauren, I do agree that "sometimes" the other partakings aren't necessary when there is so much in these to enjoy. Thank you, my friend. I'm happy you liked this. Sue, Good to see you here. Thanks for the nice words. I'll be looking at some of your new poetry soon. Sunny, Hi, my friend. Thank you for the "magnificent." Yes, quite delicious, isn't it? Thank you. snowpants, Hi there. Thanks for loving this small poem and for taking the time to read. I sincerely appreciate you dropping by. Proust- |
