I sit alone, in the moonlight glow,
thinking about you and me.
I can't ignore the truth anymore,
I'll never be, where I want to be.

I didn't read, between the lines you wrote.
If I had, then I would have known.
You've made me see, there's no place for me.
Through actions and words, I've been shown.

Often forgotten, sometimes for days,
without, so much as a word.
Easy come, easy go, as the song goes,
was sung often, but I never heard.

There's a love song, written in your heart,
but it isn't me, that it's playing for.
I know I'm your friend. But you are my love.
And I can't hold to that anymore.

If love could be turned off as a faucet,
I would turn off my love tonight.
My love means nothing, to you I know.
I've seen the truth, in the pale moonlight.

Destiny, leaves us no choices,
As to whom we will love in this life.
I won't let, my love be a factor,
in causing you, heartache and strife.

Someday a love song, will play just for me.
A song, most beautiful and true.
But regardless of how many times it's played,
I won't hear it, 'lest it be from you.

From this moment on, I'll remember,
I've faced reality, in the moon lights glow.
If one tiny tear should happen to fall,
No one but me and the moon will know.

If you can't make it so,
you need to let it go!

This is heartbreaking... (and unfortunately, I know it all too well. *S*) Very well written!

Sad song, this.
I'll wager that there is a lot more one-way love out there than we know.  But keep a door open, you never know who may be walking by.

I love that last stanza, "no one but me and the moon will know" how beautifully penned.
Well done here.

With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free..

Yes I know this place well.   We come to the realization that this may not be the one...but with all of our heart we want this to be the one...so we battle with our heart...but of course unless the situation improves we will soon be faced with the necessity to let go or suffer thru eternity...James
