You Judge ?

does the punishment
fit the crime
is my step
so out of line
and the penalty
for my crimes
far surpass me
at times
I am older
not much smarter
still I sacrifice
in the barter
it is the condition
of the command
I need no guide
understand
strong enough
to find my way
acquire no voice
in obey

Lady,
Hmmm.  ?  The first time I read this it seemed straight forward enough.  But I've read it several times and now I'm not so sure . . . seems to get more complex each time.  Interesting.  I'm wondering if it is intentionally ambiguous or it just turned out that way (rhetorical question - wouldn't change a thing).  I'm probably just reading something into it, which of course is the priveledge of the reader, no?
More, please.
Kraw'
