I'm dancing in another place and time
walking on an invisible line
doing things that you wish you could
angry that you knew that I would
from sun up to down I'll rock the town
skippin beats to the glorious sound
and all the time you'll never know
about the secret you'll never show
cause I'm the man with the plan for the fan
and you'll know that the show is a go
when I sing

ain't nobody dope as me
hanging from the poppy tree
ain't nobody flyin high
with this weed I'll touch the sky
everybody on the floor
screamin cause they want some more
take a hit and pass it down
fourty ounces to the pound

fourty ounces and fourty rounds
got more bricks than your mammas got pounds
smokin trees and snorting coke
only cause my bottles broke
have a beer run because we can
some one said I am the man
who am I to cheat or kill
why aren't you still on the pill
so pass the vodka pass the lime
cause right about now it's party time

Hey, Shakesbeer,

I read your profile, and you sound like JUST the kind of guy I've been looking for. You live in Saint Louis, huh.  Well baby, I'm just right around the corner. So why don't ya come up and
see me
sometime.  *wink*
This poem evokes flashes from the late 70's early 80's era for me...the hard rockers. Anyone remember Spinal tap? lol

"Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone
I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me."

I know this life---and old habits do die hard--and? trust me, they DO die...But sometimes it gets to be a matter of kill or be killed.

Not sure if this was a sarcastic slant or an irreverent in-your-face- viewpoint, but either way, it's a compelling look into the mindset of an all-or-nothing lifestyle. And? I'm surely not one to judge. A road to recovery?   I'll let ya know when I get there, but methinks it's a very personal path through a very dense forest.

Hugs to you, and thanks for sharing.
