The Shores of Alone

The human heart is built to last
seventy  years or so
but don't you wonder how it beats
through all the highs and lows?

Days when it seems so full to flow
and others just reversed
the emptiness could crush hard steel
the human heart feels cursed.

Yet it beats on in slight disdain
of those who hold it light
for in those days of pain and tears
the heart learns how to fight

The human heart is made of love
not muscle,and not veins
And to that cause it will beat on
regardless of the pain.

Excellent Sandra, in both rhythm and rhyme. I found this very visual. Your sentiments were so vivid and realistic to me, this really touched me this morning. Very nicely written.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Wonderfully written, Catalinamoon,  particularly the striking passage above.

Thanks for this sensitive poem.
