He said,
"don't go chasing shadows
along mysterious paths of night"
I didn't realise I'd had though
'til finding myself in flight

T'was all a mere illusion
for nothing threatening followed
I've paid for my confusion
as stupidity's hard to swallow

Where I saw monsters & demons
were things of  explanation
the voices calling & screamin'
born of my trepidation

The advice so solidly given
that fell upon deaf ears
& recieved as something hidden
is the reason for my tears

Though shadows do exist
in the day as well as night
they ignored me in disinterest
boredly witnessed my "plight"

then I realised he was right,
so when offered his next advice:

"look ahead to the future,
for the past is always behind"
I'm letting go of yesterday
and doing things right this time...

Very nicely written Tiersdin ... wise words to follow. We cannot be chased by the past if we are looking toward the future. I really enjoyed this thought-provoking piece!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Tier, this is very nice, good advice, in a smoothly flowing poem. I love your style.
