The Morning After
~~~
Sunlight
softly  flowing
into a woodland dawn
Where honeysuckles
lift their heads
from a sleepy morning fawn
Though all of nature
seems at rest
neath the fragrance
of a flower
A distant cadence
breaks the still
beneath
this rustic bower
~
A gentle thump
and then another
A shimmer
parts the years
Into the glade
a silhouette
with long thin drooping ears
The whiskers
graced
upon his face
show an ancient shade of grey
A basket
tucked
beneath his arm
as he stops to bless the day
Then with a yawn
he disappears
amid a dazzling sight
A multi colored kaleidoscope
that fades
neath Easter's light
~~~

Oh, Bravo Rex!  What a lovely Easter offering from you. The visual imagery is wonderful ... and the flow is almost like a hushed whisper ... I very much enjoyed this wonderful cottony "tale".

Best wishes,
/Kit

Drooping ears? Whiskers? gray? Oh, yes, I did see that Toerag was around today!!

Rex, your humor and unique ways of saying things has been missed. Good to see you again.....

Kit ... thankyou for those wonderful words

Alan ... many thanks ... glad you liked it

Karilea ... we're all still kids, right?

Thankyou Claire ... I was shooting for something that would appeal to all age groups

Balladeer ... actually I haven't seen Toerag
perhaps he's still hunting for eggs
Thankyou ... good to see you too

Thanks Denise ... I'm going to be trying it out on a few 'wee ones' ... they're usually a good audience, even though I have to bribe them with treats

Secret Whisper ... thankyou so much, for your kind reply
