~Dear Almighty Creator~

I'm writing to you at this time ... to give notice of my resignation
I'm most sorry to disappoint you ... but I no longer feel anticipation
Please understand, for centuries now ... I have treasured my occupation
But in the last millennium so much has changed ... now all I see is devastation
Every where I look  ... is ill effects of Mankind's greed driven imprecations
So much is being destroyed ... without even the slightest hesitation
My tired eyes have seen so much ... that they have lost their fascination
All the waste and destruction ... has taken my ability to feel adulation
The loss is so immense ... yet they seem blind to the long term ramifications
Perhaps their desire for fortune and fame ... is their own denial and justification
Still I hold out hope, there are those who try to help ... reaching out thru education
I see them working hard to spread the word ... and to disperse the information
These messengers of earth are our last hope ... they are your angels of salvation
So I will pray its not too late ... I pray mankind will hear their truths and declarations
Their eyes must be opened to see the consequence ...the cost of their incantations
If only they could foresee the future ... and resist greed's lusty temptations
If only they could accept and change ... it would be a healing revelation
But until then I beg of you ... please accept my resignation
I will pray for the future of my beloved Earth ... as I believe in her reincarnation

Signed,
Mother Nature.

~PS~
Perhaps you could look in to retirement ... for my love Father Time ...
For I fear time is running out ... and he too will have to resign.

Janet Marie

Ahhhh Janet Marie ... from Mother Nature's heart to your pen. And what a beautiful wisdom-filled piece your wrote in her honour. She is a weary lady, and needs all of the support she can muster. Thank you for these lovely sentiments to remind us all of her needs. I loved this JM!

Best wishes,
/Kit

the things you describe are the very signs that the earth will be renewed. Thanks for a wonderful read.

She's indispensable and underappreciated... sounds like she works at my job! LOL So nope... Mother Nature CAN'T resign... (I don't get to quit my job just cause the going gets tough *G*) she's needed to continue to inspire great poems like this. *S*

Wow! Wow! An awesome, powerful and touching write! You use a clever and appropriate rhyme/flow scheme. Excellent idea of mother nature writing a letter to God - very creative! I hope that all poets here will read this!

Take care,
Melissa~

I believe the "wows" have it with this stroke of poetic genius. I could never hold it together long enough to finish a rhyme scheme such as the one employed here. Just super, this.

Sorry Mother Nature you resignation can't be accepted. We need you and your heart! We need your understanding of the workings of the land and how we can restore it.  We need your patience for a little while longer, the patience that has worn thin but is there because of the knowledge you possess of the world when it was a paradise. We need your insight to turn your insight around just because you recognize the problems.

Mother nature if you give up then what will we have? Please stay with us and force your weary bones to serve us a little while longer, for the children of the future if nothing else. We love you Mother Nature as much as you love this beautiful earth you gave birth to. Let us all press forward toward a solution.

Sincerely,

Personell Manager
Earth!

From where I stand I see the thaw
and on the frozen floor
the sun upon the glowing crust
is glistening wet and pure.

Upon the marbled rolling hills
the glossy snow drifts ride;
there is no place nor earthly thrill
like greenwood springtime life.

A musty scent is on the air,
I lift my head and breathe
out of the sky I seem to hear
a calling on the breeze.

The sound of God and life and wild
the sound of earth that grows
out of the wind that whispers by
the sound of trees that moan.

I know now why it is I care;
I bend my head and pray,
I cannot lock them in my heart
these teardrops on my face.
