I really, really thought
you might be the one
to make this heart of mine
finally choose not to run.
I tried really hard
to fall in love with you.
But I cannot tell
this old heart what to do.

I made a point
to laugh at all your jokes.
Against my better judgement
I even met your folks.
I feel you must admit
I really did my part.
And if you have any grievances
take them up with my heart.

I didn't say a word
when you didn't hold the door.
After all, maybe guys
don't do that anymore.
Yes, I thought your hair
was a little bit too long.
You play the radio way too loud
and you always sing along.

Your favorite thing to do
is stay home and watch t.v.
The only time you took me out
was if one of us could eat free.
And I tried not to laugh
because I didn't want to tease,
but you wore shorts a little too short
and your socks up to your knees.

So, please don't take this hard,
but I think you ought to know
that my heart packed up and headed south
a long, long time ago.
I guess I'll follow suit.
It's just what I gotta do,
but I'm sure one day you're gonna find
the girl that's meant for you.

Hey you tried, even went as far as meeting the parents. Thank goodness your heart knew what a cheapskate he was and got you moving south. Enjoyed!
