Soul Pathway (inspired by Sven’s The Soul’s Path)

It’s said that the path to the soul is hard and very long
You need to walk though night to hear beauty’s song
It involves walking through shadows before you see light
We can’t understand wonder if we don’t feel fears night
Joy wouldn’t be a jewel if our hearts had never seen rain
Truth wouldn’t illume us if deception didn’t give pain
The light is only bright when you see the darkness fall
Love without hate wouldn’t have the majesty for us all

It’s been said that the road that we all walk takes skill
You need to experience the troughs to see over the hill
It is only as we balance ourselves we see wrong and right
We can’t experience success if we haven’t seen hopes blight
Day wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t have night’s face
The sunrise wouldn’t bring joy if night hadn’t had its place
Dreams are the visions but realities are the way we live
It’s only within the storm we find the peace love can give

It’s been said that the highway to ourselves is a long race
We can’t help but wonder if we will last out this pace
The peace we bathe our souls in is sweeter for the din
Rainbows only paint the sky when rain lets the sun in
Stars can only shine in the darkness if night holds sway
The dawn can only bring promise at the beginning of day
Hearts can only lift when they have been cast into shade
And your soul’s pathway with hope and love is clearly paved
Marsha

Marsha, bless your heart    How did you know that I needed those words...almost desperately!!!

I will keep this comfort close by...these words.. the kind of soul and heart that can write them... they stand between the darkness of despair and the light!!!

That was very beautiful.... (My first thought was an excited, "Oh, this Rocks!") It has a very nice rhythm without it being sing-songy; I can hear music with it. You are living proof of my theory that misty English rain brings out the soul's poetry.  ) I'm starting to write songs, I wonder if you'd be willing to let me try to set this peice to music?? It has almost a natural melody when spoken that i really like. I generally use my own stuff, but I don't think i could improve on this theme if I tried. I think I have to go read that book you said inspired it!
