~*~Wings On The Wind~*~

For Parker's Earth Day Challenge

I call myself Ivy, the forest fairy.
I fly on gossamer wings of transparent blue,
Through a cellophane sky, crystalline raindrops,
The sap of trees, flower petals, each blade of grass,
Oceans of salt, rivers, and streams.
I am but momentary nourishment sent from the heavens,
To hold the fate of the earth for a time, in my hands.

My destiny is to defend this green earth,
Safeguarding both flora and fauna,
Until I too am part of the whole.
I am the caretaker of a small part of the,
Universe everyone openly shares in love.
Invisible to the human eye, I control every thought,
Every verse and rhyme of nature’s flow in serenity.
Just one of millions of the Creators tiny protectors,
Guarding all things living, with spirit.

I rejoice in seeing an excited child,
Who experiences the earth, holding it in their hands,
Feeling its warmth slip between fingers.
Embracing the one true and pure perfection,
In all of God’s creation.
From the perfect arc of a rainbow,
To the fascinating complexity of,
An icicle or a single snowflake formed with pure love.

This invisible fae, which no one can see,
Rejoices in knowing, I have shared a piece of life and death,
With one and all, but soon my time will be done too.
I was so blessed to hold a piece of this earth in my hands.
To ride the wings of the wind, hide amidst the ivy,
Waiting for just one mortal, to be star struck,
To notice me, see my heart, and all the wonders of the maker.
Sadly one tiny green tear rolls down my cheek,
As another mortal walks on by, and does not see me,
From dust to dust, ashes to ashes,
As I ride wings on the wind.

Mysteria~
This is such a hauntingly lovely piece.
Perfectly in tune with the upcoming Earth Day
and singing the praises of Mother Earth with your inspirational fae metaphor.

'Waiting for just one mortal, to be star struck'

You are a blessing to our forum family~
Thank you with a great big HUG~

You visualize the fragility of earth well.

~*~ Tracie  If only one person smiles, then I am doing my job, thank you.

~*~ Marge ~ did anyone ever tell you that you give the greatest hugs?  More, more

~*~ Sunshine ~ I would probably bet somewhere in there are lines you inspired, so in fact, you might have written in part, some of it?  Hugs!

~*~ Janet Marie ~ I wanted to write for Earth Day somehow, but wanted to be different, glad you enjoyed.

~*~ Julian ~ I know fragility well, so to transfer to another form is possibly the easiest thing for me, but I thank you for noticing the fragility of our earth, and I hope others will as well.

Thank you all for reading my little thoughts on how we take the Earth for granted sometimes.
