“WHEN I ASKED”
by
Bill Charles
~~~~
My fingers press against your lips,
touching their softness…
And I ask you
‘Why’…
My face I bury into your silken hair,
smelling its fragrance…
And I ask you
‘Why’…
My body touches your tender warmth,
knowing its innocence…
And I ask you
‘Why’…
My essence lies together with yours,
holding, caressing, and wanting…
And I ask you
‘Why’…
But then you enraptured me
with your fondness,
and without words, answered
my heart…
Sometimes words are not what's needed. You put it down in such a way we know what the answer was without you saying a word. I liked this very much.
Wynter - thanks for coming by to read this. And for the very kind reply. Really thought that this would bring more than two though.
inot2B - thank you very much for the sweetest of your reply. And I believe that you are correct in saying that " sometimes words are not what's needed." More is needed at times, like now. And I am very glad that you liked it. As I mentioned to Wynter, I thought that it would at least deserve more than two replies. But, such as it is.
Bill, you're right. . . it does deserve more than 2 replies. . . so, let's send it back to make sure that it gets seen. . .
this is excellent. . . this is love. . .
I'm learning that replies are important to people, I think it would be wonderful if it were shown on here how many people "read" but not necessarily reply.  By the way, this is a fantastic love poem.....very romantic and sensual in a subtle way!
Sven - You are very considerate and I do consider you a poet friend. Thank you, as kind is not the right word for you. I do realize that people need to respond to each other and I do when I can, but we all lead a hectic lifestyle, and at times their is only enough free time to write a poem and post it. Thanks again Sven, I won't forget your consideration.
Kay - Yes, replies are very important. Not only for helping the person feel good about what they wrote, but to read in the replies how one just might touch someone else with their writing and perhaps bring a smile.
Or to help them realize that love is out there to be found. Read and enjoy mine, as I write mostly about romance, for everyone to see and enjoy, and to take away what they need from it.
Bill, you definitely brought a smile to my face with this one   Great flow, and the repetition works really well. Enjoyed
Words are never enough. The way someone holds you, laughs with you, or even looks at you is what makes Love complete. I love reading your poetry. I can tell it comes straight from your heart.
BillCharles~
I've always liked the question of 'why' ...
it has so many possibilities of finding just the right answer.
Nicely said.
Beckalini - and I bet that it is one pretty smile. Thank you for coming by.
RMW - thanks, I do appreciate your kind words. And you write well, I enjoy your poems.
kitkat - I also agree that words are never enough, as I found that out over many years. Sweet caring touches, smiles, and a soft kiss, will beat any words that could ever be said to someone. It does feel good that people like what I write, and yes, it does comes straight from my heart.
chansondegeste - nice to see you, and hope that you are doing well. And, thank you very much for coming by for a read of these treasured words.
Marge Tindal - yes, the question of why is always intriguing, and it does has many answers at times. Thanks Marge.
Bill
The answer only comes from the heart and when it feels good to the touch and from the heart at the same time - magic - simply magic and everything else flows smoothly.  If you don't feel it in the heart then it is lost and nothing else matters.  You have captured the true meaning.
Taffetta - oh yes, I do hope that it is magic, as you say. And I also believe as you, it must come from the heart, and it is felt in mine. Responses such as these is what keeps me writing. Thank you so much.
This is so tender, Bill. Words are hardly needed when one's heart begins to speak. Your expressions are always wonderful to read, when I can get here, and I thank you for this beauty.  (o:
