The Second Time Around I thought, in the eyes of a friend, I did all the right things I thought these lips had found all the right words I just thought the world was being kind when I was given you And, I always thought my heart would be forever heard... I tried to live life with you in front of me Somehow my light was to dim to shine It glows, it does, but your eyes can't see I've found yourself, now, many steps behind... Someday I'm gonna learn how to reach you, My Friend And, this soul is gonna learn how to fly When distance is loud and one becomes lost The night will find our hands locked across these skies... The second time around I will hand you the moon I will show you how the stars speak your name Maybe then I can turn the head of the unknowing one And, hopefully, our dance through life will feel much the same... The second time around you will hold every sea And, will know blue like you've never known For the waters that runs along the shores for us Will be the strength and the heaven we shall call home... If I gave you the fields in silver and a dusty brown Could my heart, you think, be clearly found? I live the days that nature surely gives me In it I find destiny carried with the breeze... I am one with what God had blessed me with And, I'm part of that sunset and lights Oh, my second time around I will take you there To where colors fade into the darkest of night... I just need one chance to show you what I can do I need just one breath to show what is real Allow me to take you to my world where you've never been So nature can give way to all that I feel... Here in my hands I hold truth in what I can offer you here I can guide you to an ever solid ground Never will the face of eternity turn it's back on you When if ever I get my second time around...
