Buds burst forth new growth on branches
Perfume of peonies permeate the air
Blankets of bluebonnets in beds of color
The bounty of spring is everywhere

As spring's rays bathe the earth
Creeping from caves with newfound hope
And new life rampant all around us
Everywhere a spurt of growth

Spring has its own unique promise
A time of balance has begun
A time of new life and new loves
A time for journeys to begin

Children's laughter fills the air
As eagerly they prepare to hunt
For bright colored easter eggs
Chocolate bunnies to fill their baskets

Hearts and souls become lighter
Hope and love is in the air
The long dark days of winter gone
Celebrate together, spring has come

Pepper...I think that spring, love and death are probably three of the most difficult topics to capture in poetry. You do a good job here with spring. I like it. Bob

This is absolutely vivid, and was a fun read.

I think if you remove the word As from the second stanza, it would be beneficial.  It had me feeling much like one does when the last note of a song, the resolution note, is not played.  Without the 'As' one would not keep waiting for the other shoe to drop...which occurs several lines down, but very far away from the dependent clause.
