There in the nighttime sky
I behold a little lonely star
Where my thoughts of love reside
Held aloft and brighter by far
Ever the steady guiding light
For a traveler through the storm
How can something in the cold of night
Be so distant, yet ever so warm
No jewels upon Earth can measure
Nor even be held in any compare
For God so values this treasure
Her light in Heaven He will forever bear

Such a beautiful little star in the envious sky
I shield her radiance from my undeserving eyes

Ah! I have oft thought of stars being warm....and not cold, nor even distant, for I can lift my hand, and hold them....

Warm and fuzzy...but that's caused by refraction of light waves entering the earth's atmosphere...but, I digress. Thank you.

Beautiful writing, PK!  I absolutely love this!

to be with you...
I've tried to hide my passion,
but it's just no use...
piece by piece I lose it
when you walk into the room...

I love stars! They are the most wonderful things to behold...but sometime I get caught up in the science of them and it spoils the moment. Your poem made me look out of my window...just look...no thinking. Thanks for that

They seem so close, yet they are so far away.  I love to gaze up at the night sky and lose myself in their wonder.  Wonderful write!

I've really enjoyed reading this poem. It reminds me of many nights spent gazing and wishing upon the brightest star I could see..
