Kiss Me Goodbye

If I kiss you
you'll probably leave me.
Then I'll miss you
and that's a feeling
I'd like to miss.
Still dealing with the feeling
of so many lost kisses to address.
Why do I desire all the kisses
one man can possess?
A woman I knew well before you
kissed me like an angel
and shared her heart a week or two
until right in the middle of her angel caress
she kissed me goodbye and left my life in a mess.

Oh, I wanted to tell you how beautiful
you look in that silky red dress.
I have an overpowering desire to kiss you.
Must be the dress?
By the way what do you have planned for tonight?
Can I kiss you goodbye before you leave?
Would that be allright?

It does seem like every time we invest in something our heart gets jolted, but when we least expect it along comes a rose by another name that can bring a lovely rhythm to our lives and once again preserve the desire to share with another, wonderful write.

i too know the hurt that a kiss can bring. and how one day it can be great and then the next time you kiss its the last time. then you are left crying with the heart you once gave that person to have and to hold broken in your hands. and you dont know what to do. i loved this poem and have added it to my library.
