A subject avoided
at its core
but it's interrelated
more and more
In forum of passion
our words of love
and though that word
is not there
too often left in air
simply implied
hidden with passion

Yet after bonding
is such passion maintained
the love we've assumed
a remaining thing

If love-making slows
To less frequent stings
As some analyst's say
is maintenance enough
is there love to carry
when goings gets rough

I choose to see it
rooted in need
don't want to live alone
I know that indeed
I need love's hugs
and love's kisses too
I need the plugs
that fill the holes
to survive the misses
coming through

When we're preoccupied
with lesser friends
or co-workers who've fried
or messed up their lives

we merged with a passion
It's always in fashion
But if one feels it more
And one feels it less
Is there need enough
To sustain the bliss

I've read of love
one's need, so great
can that focus be carried
can the two then be married
the great need survive
with another who's need
is much weaker, indeed

Some don't or the word
is not in their creed
they won't call it 'need'
"too demanding" they'll plead

Relationship
is a word they will use

I've lived long enough
can see the word
It can sustain me
like the wings of a bird
most of the time
when there's air to fly on

But I get back to cuddle
when life is a muddle
and cuddle's enough
when the going gets tough

So that's my need
source of my greed
A love that will last
When great passion is past

The first duty of love is to listen.

passion takes many forms....you can have passionate kisses and hugs and smiles and touches and conversations and...well you get it   never give up the passion...just change how it is defined! This was great WY!!    SEA

My passions have lost their sting
I think this not a critical thing
of a love's labor spent
though years they are bent
saying I have aged to a time
when all things mellow are mine.

"I am not now that which I have been."

This is truly a wonderful statement of how passion can take you places...and not necessarily good places...but without passion...without passion life would be pretty boring

Passion....whether quietly sitting beside a loved one, exchanging glances, or the other kind that belongs behind closed doors....either one is needed....

both are desired....

and we should never turn one away for the other....

well done, Mr. Yeats

Thank you most sincerely for your kind and thoughtful replies - I ask that you resd my response to 'Caressing' - and view this and subsequent posts of mine (especially from '98-99) in light of changes on my physical condition -

In no way did I intend to suggest that "Passion" cannot nor should not be nourished and maintained -

Our bodies - and our minds are most definitely interconnected- We cannot feel or express things physically - that our minds have subjugated because of physical conditions beyond our control

Conversely - "Love" being the magic thing that it is - We cannot deny our need for love - even when how it is manifested is lessened by events totally unexpected

Those of you who've read these two replies - and the poems - I clearly hope I've piqued your interest and pray - you reflect - (and write) how your perceptions may have shaped your attitudes

Once more - Thank you

Bill--Love is a feeling we have for many things and in many different ways...I think in its specialness it survives many things; ill health, seperation...and so many other influances that can change things...I feel that love survives.
