(this poem was written for a line provided by our wonderful Kit McCallum   )

I've always loved with wild abandon....feelings on display
> The world was one big sandbox where I loved to sit and play
> My innocence was my delight, my refuge and my joy
> And felt my heart was something that no one would dare destroy.
>
> I wore my heart upon my sleeve but found it too exposed
> It seemed to be the perfect place to show it, I supposed
> But there are those who have an eye for unsuspecting hearts
> And love to take them in their hands and tear them all apart.
>
> I have been told my heart's so big I must take special care
> To keep it in a hidden  place away from lurker's stare
> And so I kept it in my chest but it was found there, too
> It  was ripped out so many times I don't know what to do.
>
> Through faded dreams and love gone wrong and lies so often spoken
> I can't begin to count the times the poor thing has been broken
> My joy of life is just so strong I love things to a fault
> And need to find a large safe or, at very least, a vault.
>
> It really is perplexing that I have to take this stance
> But it's become so fragile I can't take another chance.
> I've thought about it long and hard...there's just one thing to do
> I'm going to fill it up with love and offer it to you.
>
> I know that it's safe in your hands. I know how much you care
> And you've shown me that I can feel it has protection there
> So please accept it from my hands and place it next to yours
> A testament for all to see that faith and love endures....

I love your poem and your solution.  I always am impressed with your poetry.  I have one with a similar theme, I have been intending to post.  Joyce

Ah 'Deer, your heart is beautiful, but then again, I always knew that.  A wonderful and well expressed poem.  I used to wear my heart on my sleeve, and then one day, I decided to encrypt it instead, if only I could hand it to someone so lovingly like you do. I must have this way awesome poem for my library, of course

Take care,
Melissa~

You knew I'd love this one, didn't you? *S* But yanno... after hiding my heart away and then wearing it prominently displayed on my sleeve for a while, I tried that wrapping it up in trust and offering it routine... only to have it drop-kicked into the next county! LOL I guess even a blonde should get the hint, right... where's the trash can? *S* Great job, Deer one!

'Deer dear heart, utterly utterly awesome, yes two visits here today, either things are slowing down or it's the holiday and everone has decided to behave. Fingers crossed as to whatever the reason, it means that I got the chance to see this love.

And I thank my lucky stars that I have, it's truly special, always you write brilliantly and this is fabulous.

Take care love and warm stuff
