Pelicans

They seem to need both line and space.
And so, at dusk,
With drooping pouches
Darkened against the sunset,
An undulating score of notes
Appears along the swell's face.
Later,
Beyond the dissonance of gulls
Shrieking amidst the litter of a picnic,
Their harmony lingers.

This is so interesting, I read it over and over again, really enjoyed.

Hello Bob, you're on a roll lately.  I shall have to tell you sometime the special relationship my father has with pelicans.

RMW,

A wonderful piece of writing, using so few words to show so much.  Excellent!

This is great!  It raised images in my mind of watching pelicans at evening on Pyramid Lake in Nevada. They are an interesting bird, I think.
