(feeling a bit of spring whimsey  )Were the lights on Or off Could one hear us cough Were the doors Open or closed Did we take off our clothes Could skin Have been seen If you were on the scene Am I still loveable Are you still huggable Were we content With two bodies bent In proximity Did they then Blend with glee Meld one another free We walked in the park A sunny lark This bright sparkling day Though it is not yet May And saw scenes of spring In each living thing They met through their dogs Who were sniffing each other Others were drifting Hands from their canoe sifting While septuagenarians Just sat and held hands The birds twitterpated They not yet were mated Flying by on another Not sister or brother As bees buzzed and swarmed And the daffodils warmed By sunlight so yellow We both felt quite mellow Eventually back For warmth we did lack And found comfort inside Where you first were my bride Did we repeat that day (It still is not May) I'll give no more clue The answer's in you The first duty of love is to listen. ~ Paul Tillich ~ [This message has been edited by Wilfred Yeats (edited 04-07-2001).] |
