In The Morning
By: Noah Eaton
4/7/01

I awaken from my dreams, like a sad boy whose puppy ran away from home
Trying to conjugate the Earth with me, make a harmonic melody
I am lost in a wanderlust of desire, I don’t know where I can roam
I have faith in the long run, but I need someone to guide me

I feel empty, I feel like I am all alone
It’s as if I’m a ghost and no one can see me
Deep inside I feel diagnosed by frostbite, my heart feels so cold
Feeling I’m trapped behind a mirror askance from both fantasy and reality

How I long endlessly for the rain to fall in my desert
How I ever wait to see the seagulls circle in the sky
To see the shore of happiness and crawl out of my sea of sadness, heal from hurt
How I ever wait to feel and endless smile, rather than an endless cry

Is anybody waiting out there for me?
Why can’t I hold a smile, why can’t I find others who look up to me?
Is anybody waiting out there for me?
I feel like I have no one, I’ve lost my place in the sunshine, it’s from my reach

In my dreams, I hear happy rumors, I hope they are real
I’m left empty-handed, and I make an effort to pull through
Dear God, can I ask you just one question, down before you I kneel
“Am I trying too hard, and if I am, what should I do?”

My mom and dad tell me that I have all the love to succeed
They say I have everything others want, everything others need
I share all my love and spirit I have, but I can’t help but cry
But I haven’t gotten anything back, and I don’t know why

In the morning, I will pray
For someone to come my way and reveal a sunny day
In the morning, I cry
Wishing for light to come and fill my empty heart

Noah,

This brought to mind the following:

The Outer Bank

I do not mind this narrow shelf
Between the shore and open sea.
Nor do I find your placing me
Upon your outer bank of self,
Where fog lifts slowly,
A cold rebuff to intimacy. Alone
I've seen your summer shift,
The sheer and fetching drift of mood,
The fullness of your solitude.   RMW

"...is anyone waiting out there for (you)?..." Of course. But while you are waiting, take care not to miss the beauty of solitude.   Thanks for sharing. Bob

Bob gave you good advice, dear boy.  Sometimes we just need to wait for God's timetable. My best to you.  Joyce
