I dreamt I was a cockleburr,
...stuck in a coyote's coat,
He stopped to scratch and I fell off,
...and that is all she wrote.

But who is she? I asked myself,
...to pen of cockleburr,
As I lay upon the ground,
...no more in coyote's fur.

A cockleburr upon bare ground,
...no fur in which to stick,
While I wondered who she was,
...she didn't give a lick.

The coyote's gone, and so is she,
...and here alone I lie,
Since cockleburrs don't read or write,
...I say farewell, goodbye.

Wonderfully enjoyable read, Mike!  I'm so glad you're not a cockleburr and I hope you won't feel like one long for you must, you must keep reading and writing!

What a wonderful fun poem.  Who else would think of writing about a cockleburr.  Joyce
