*Although my poem is dark in theme, thank you Mike for inspiring me!* Grocery List Friend, do me a favour mix a medley of repentful savour soothe hunger's weep, take this grocery list replenish a heart, long ago dismissed, buy me some spice melt this sheeth of ice, I need a prime cut of veal a needless death, blood-red drink to inwardly heal, sweeten a sour soul with herbal honey tea calm the banshee in stomach's chamber, wail set free, serve a platter of innocent lamb flesh match my stolen youth, of yesteryear's heart-core thresh, oh, moment's healing caress of angel-silk tissue wipe the slate clean of past's residue, pop the cork of expensive chardonnay dull drunken regret, drowning in bubbles of passing days, pick an overlooked loaf of day-old bread equal the staleness of a cruel fate-made bed, roast shiskabobs with wooden stake through skin, sacrifice food no hope of escape, helpless as I, unjustly skewed, friend, reaper, take this grocery list binge, then purge a heart long ago dismissed, and when I'm through with the taste of pain-in-blue I'll disgard it with the grocery store's paper-bag trash, sold for slaughter, used, mangled and mashed ~*By Melissa Honeybee*~ |
