Shakespearean sonnet (abab cdcd efef gg)

A Muted Love

Where do we go when silence is our speech
And tears are shed in lonely solitude;
When open love is way beyond our reach
And fantasies are gone and dreams elude?
We see it leaving but are scared to tell
Afraid that wording it will make it so;
Where were the lovers when the shadows fell
Afraid to bid good-bye or say hello?
Love came as quick as any bright Spring dawn
And overwhelmed their hearts with childlike glee,
But like a pregnant fog had slowly gone
And left two strangers staring out to see

Two hearts had loved, had cared, had laughed, had cried,
Forever Valentines, this day had died.

We seek and some how we find.  Lovely sonnet.  Shakespeare would be proud.  Joyce

I'm very pleased to see poets who love to write in form keeping me company here at Passions.  We're in the minority, but that's OK... I like the other guys anyway...

This is nicely done - iambic pentameter and rhyme scheme intact - and theme developed nicely... I'm hoping to see lots more of your work.  Do you have your own site?...

Sunshine - Thank you for reading and commenting.

James, where?

Sea - Thanks so much.

Joyce - thank you so much

Nan - There are a few of us left, here and there, near and far away.  Thank you for you input.  No, I have no site - I'm lucky I can find this  place and post replys let alone anything else- Have no idea how this works yet and definitely have no idea how to get a site.

People who write such lovely poetry are allowed to be slow learners when it comes to computers.

Owww! The sadness in the end cut right into my soul. I thought the rest of the poem was somewhat sad, but the last two lines brought it to a shape piercing demise. Ahhh! Terrible and thus great!

PdeV, Why thank you very much for your kind thoughts: but ya know, it is a pain that I have so much trouble with this medium - I know I just need someone close to teach me but till I find someone I learn it on my own and slowly - almost everything I have learned I learned by accident - this is the truth I am sorry to say.

Doug - thanks you for taking time to reading and give me your thoughts too - it meant a lot to know how you viewed this and is very helpful.  I also am glad you liked it. Panne
