Rambling Fear

the touch still lingers on my mind
a softness caressing me
soothing me,
tempering the fears held within

it is the winter of my heart
no pretentions, just the blue of my moon
knowing that only once
does this appear in a lifetime
a rainbow in my days,
starlight in my nights
to colour my world in brightness
a world dimmed by hurt, loss
and worse, fear of it repeating

my blanket, a symbol,
as I cover myself in comfort
wanting to retire from life
and thoughts, wanting to stop them

as spring begins it's season of life
I am adrift in those thoughts
that flow through my mind
pausing me, holding me back
from the love I wish to share

surrounding myself in a wall of fear,
desiring you, those unknown experiences
yet
regret comes to me in bound packages,
unwrapped dreams, that could have been
I brace myself against the cold,
the inevitable...
pulling my comfort tighter around me
building my wall higher,
blocking the sunshine,
the rainbow after the storm
and at the days end,
even the blue of the moon
has ceased to be.

This one gathered energy and power as it went until the ending just blew me away.

Poetic Knight, thank you. For a little background...I have called myself
Once in a ...Blue Moon as another name when Moonchild and is my Website name...not a good morning as you can tell

And to the others, Brad thank you for reading and responding, I appreciate it.

Seymour, I am not so sure I am a fighter
anymore...that  tunnel  just  keeps getting longer and longer and that light dimmer and dimmer, Thank you for your nice comments *s
