I'm just a would be poet,
my writings are not perfect
for you see..
I just write the words,
when they come so easily to me.

I don't have perfect structure,
nor do I know how to end each line.
Sometimes I find it hard,
just to get my words to rhyme.

I am not highly educated
in the ways of poetic verse,
although I am sure that at times
my writings may appear rather diverse.

Some poets do write words
far beyond compare,
while other poets seem to have
a certain poetic flair!

I may not always use
perfect poetic form,
but it seems that I write my best
when my hearts been torn.

Yes, it does seem
to my own adversity,
that I shall never write
perfect poetry!!

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

Oh, sweet lady ... aren't we all ?

Words that flow freely are the bestest there are ! !

And yours are looking pretty gosh-darned good to me !

Honestly, I found this to be how we all feel at times about this craft.  We look up to someone along the way and we forget that they are looking up to someone as well.  I try to remind myself of this every day.  I'm looking up and so perhaps...just perhaps someone is looking up to me?!? Wait...could it be?

Adversity has never been my poetic muse; however, I certainly see the advantage of having it so within your verse. Wishing you sunshine and hope.

Perfect???
Who needs perfect?
This is the age of free verse, you know, so just make it flow.
Your very own style is the very best!

the perfect poem. . . is one that comes from your heart. . .

GS, From one would-be-poet to another I'd just like to say this was a heartfelt read that was too true and quite enjoyable.  Panne

More than a poet wannabee
You give your words that we may see
What's in your heart and on your mind -
That's all that we could ask to find!

I enjoyed this, GS!!! *S*

oh yeah I know the feeling, but you write quite well.....so I guess that you must be a poet, cause it flows from your pen right.
loved reading your poem.

We're all wannabes.  I guess there probably is no perfect poem.  But yours do just fine.  Joyce

Oh my, I am overwhelmed at all of your kind responses.  I wrote this poem a few years back when I was just learning about forms and styles.  When it comes down to it, I still just enjoy letting the words flow more than anything although I do love a challenge from time to time.  You all have moved me with your words!  Is it any wonder that this place makes one feel as though they are among a very special family???  Thanks all and big cyber hugs to you all!!  :}
