Sanctuary

If you fall helpless
beneath the winds
and rains of sorrow,
I will lift you up
with wings of glory
and be your shelter
from the sting of life
~~*~~
If you should find
that you are lost
all you need to do
is turn around
and take my hand,
I will guide you home
to my soul's eden
~~*~~
If your dreams
become shattered
from your mind,
I will kneel beside you
to pick the pieces up from the floor
and give them hope again
~~*~~
If ever you feel persecuted
by the cold, bitter world
I shall wash the lonely tears
from the hills of your cheeks
and remove your crown of thorns
so that you shall only know joy
~~*~~
If you become blinded
by the shadows of solitude,
the glow of my calming light
will gently kiss
the lashes of your eyes
so that you may see
that you are not alone,
I am here for you
~~*~~
If you long to hear
a word that is true,
just rest your head
upon my breast
and listen as my heart
serenades
~~*~~
If ever you need me,
just breath my name,
for, I shall always be your sanctuary
your guardian of pure love...
I am your angel

written like a beautiful whispered promise
I love seeing this side of your poetry!!
this one is a sigh and smile

It's such a clever innocence with which you show myself to me

Beautifully done!

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

Janet, Walker, Karilea, Interloper, Chels, Cheri, Lone Wolf and Sven - Thank you so much, I enjoyed penning this piece, it's actually a re-write from a poem that I posted about a year ago~

Take care,
Melissa~
